Communication is Key
Working closely with the families of our clients is an important part of what we do. Our primary job, of course, is caring for your loved one. A close second, however, is communicating with you.
We have all probably been in the position of feeling uninformed and “left out of the loop” when we’ve interacted with medical personnel or health care agencies. It can leave you feeling helpless and lost. That is not what Here to There is about.
During our complimentary initial consultation, we will establish a communication process that’s comfortable for everyone. It’s important that you are aware of and are comfortable with the activities, the progress, and the way your loved one is feeling and behaving. A large part of our consultation will include talking about your loved one’s safety, favorite activities, energy levels, physical and mental capabilities, favorite foods, friends, social activities, and anything else you feel we need to know to provide them with their best quality of life.
A talented and compassionate caregiver will then tailor a plan specifically for them. If you’d like to see an outline of their plan, no problem. If you’d like to make suggestions that you feel would better suit your loved one, please do. It’s all transparent. We can provide weekly reviews, weekly previews, monthly summaries, or short daily summaries if you wish.
It’s very important to us that you feel comfortable. Nothing would make us happier than feeling like “one of the family.” We’re in it with you, because we care. No one deserves to age with anything but joy and grace and dignity.
Our staff is the real deal. Our hiring process is stringent and not many applicants make it through. They are then thoroughly trained in a number of areas including the different stages of dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s, nutrition and nutritional cooking, moving and transporting clients with limited physical capabilities, general daily personal activities, and 5-star service training. There’s no need to train them to be compassionate and empathetic. We hired them, which means that’s already who they are as human beings.
